Studies show that from 48%-85% of denture patients are unsatisfied with their dentures. At least half and possibly 17 out of 20 denture wearers are unhappy with their current dentures. One might ask why they keep with their current dentures if they’re so unhappy with them?
The truth is that in many cases it’s because people think there’s only one alternative to dentures: dental implants. And not everyone wants dental implants.
Although we believe in dental implants and know that they are a good treatment option for some, they’re not right for everyone.
And we know that dentures can be better, because we’ve made them better. We would not offer dentures if we felt we could not offer the same quality results to our denture patients that we offer to our other patients.
A Scientific Process
The way many of us were taught to do dentures in dental school was anything but scientific. It was a trial and error process that some dentists could get good at with experience, but along the way there were lots of unsatisfied patients. Many dentists gave up on dentures before they got good. We gave up on dentures for many years because they were just too unpredictable.
But then Dr. Rod Strickland worked hard to develop a dentures process that would give reliable results consistently. And he found out something remarkable–a person’s old dentures were a reliable model for what not to do!
Using Your Strengths
One of the keys to our new denture process is that it utilizes neuromuscular dentistry. Neuromuscular dentistry acknowledges that our mouth is a complicated system that depends on interactions between muscles, nerves, bones, and teeth. If your dentures are going to do their job right, they have to properly interact with the other parts of the system.
Using a special dynamic impression technique, we can account not just for your muscles in one position, but as they move through their entire range of motion. This helps ensure your dentures are fitted to your mouth in motion, not just sitting still while the impression material sets.
This will help your dentures fit better when it matters most: eating, talking, and laughing. You can be sure your dentures can stay put better than you’re used to.
An Attractive Result
We also know that looking beautiful is one of the important things your teeth do for you. If your dentures can’t do that, they aren’t doing their full job. So we use the insights of cosmetic dentistry to design beautiful dentures. You will be happy with the way these dentures look. So natural and so healthy in appearance.
We also use our experience performing non-surgical facelifts in designing dentures. When you’ve lost your teeth, your face has lost a major part of its support and structure. Whatever replaces it will significantly impact the overall shape and appearance of your face. A denture that doesn’t take that into account will also give you a poor result.
With all these innovations, it’s easy to see that dentures can be better than you’re used to. They can be as good as you deserve.
