In this issue: Oral Cancer Exam A quick and painless exam that can save your life.
Our
Practice continually looks for advances to ensure that we are providing an
exceptional level of oral heath care for you. We are concerned about oral
cancer and look for it in every patient. We have
recently incorporated ViziLite Plus into our oral screening standard of care.
We find that using ViziLite Plus along with a standard oral cancer screening
examination improves our ability to identify suspicious areas at their
earliest stages. This type exam is similar to proven early detection
procedures such as mammography, PAP smear, and PSA. ViziLite Plus is a simple
and painless examination that gives us the best chance to find any oral
abnormalities at the earliest stage possible. Early detection of
pre-cancerous tissue can minimize or eliminate the potentially disfiguring
effects of oral cancer and possibly save your life. The ViziLite Plus exam
Will be offered to you annually. Every
hour of every day, one American dies of oral Cancer. We don't want you
to be a victim. According to the American Dental Association, over 25%
of oral cancers occur in people who do not smoke and have no other risk
factors. Oral
cancer is one of the most curable diseases when it's caught early. When oral
cancer is found at the earliest stage, treatment is quicker, simpler, less
invasive and more than 90% successful. The
American Cancer Society recommends that patients have a complete oral soft
tissue examination at least once a year. Who is at risk for oral Cancer? Primary
